A June 2021 Cygnal poll of likely North Carolina voters found that:
If the same poll were conducted today, one could assume even greater disapproval among parents and voters given the negative effects of prolonged closures, rigid mask mandates, and the Wake County School Board’s decision to ignore learning loss.
Why does the Wake County School Board continue to ignore learning loss? Why does the NCAE president tweet that “learning loss is a false construct”? The answer – they do not care about ACTUAL academic performance and growth in Wake County.

They do not acknowledge statistical declines in academic performance, especially among low-income and minority students, and the board maligns, ignores and alienates parents who challenge their damaging policy decisions.
